Notifications

Detector notifications announce signals: the recurring problems that a detector’s findings are grouped into. A signal is announced when it is created and when it is reopened, which happens when a trace that started after the signal was resolved hits it again. Further findings on an open signal update it in TraceRoot without sending anything, and dismissed signals stay silent. Announcements are batched into windowed digests: TraceRoot sends one digest per project for each configured window to every configured channel. The default window is 10 minutes; the available windows are 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, and 2 hours. The digest does not wait for, or report on, root cause analysis: it reads the same whether the analysis is off, running, finished or failed. The analysis is read on the signal in TraceRoot.

Configure notifications

Open Project Settings → Detectors → Notifications. From there you can:

• Add the email recipients for this project.
• Change the Alert window from its 10-minute default.
• See whether the workspace Slack integration is connected and open its settings.

If the project has no email recipients and no Slack destination channel, nothing is sent. A detector with Generate signals turned off records findings without grouping them, so it sends no notifications. The Root cause analysis setting, Manual or Automatic, does not affect notifications. On a self-hosted deployment, grouping into signals needs OPENAI_API_KEY; without it, detectors record findings and send no notifications.

Digest contents

Email and Slack receive the same digest content, in a New and a Reopened section. For each signal:

• Its title, linked to the signal on the Signals page.
• A short summary: what the signal covers, as its page shows it.
• The detector’s name and the signal’s number of hits.

A digest lists at most 45 signals and counts the rest. The email also links to the Signals page.

Email

Email recipients are configured per project under Project Settings → Detectors → Notifications → Email. Add one or more addresses and save the list; an empty list disables email delivery for that project.

Slack

Slack delivery is available on every plan. The integration is workspace-level — one Slack workspace per TraceRoot workspace, with a single destination channel.

Connect Slack

1. Open Settings then Integrations as a workspace admin.
2. Click Connect and complete the OAuth flow in your Slack workspace.
3. Pick the channel TraceRoot should post notification digests to.
